Cottage Pie offers a simple, tasty and family friendly budget meal that everyone will enjoy.
I enjoyed how easy it was to create with your basic household ingredients and you could easily hide veggies in the meat for fussy eaters as well. The kids loved this recipe so much they have requested it become a weekly staple!

These beef kofta’s were created simply as I didn’t have the ingredients to create the beef kofta we normally make. The spice level was enough to have a good flavour with a little kick (the kids didn’t notice), however if you child is sensitive to chilli, simply skip the Cayenne Pepper or halve the amount. I use 1 kg of Beef to create enough Kofta’s to have extra’s to freeze for an easy dinner another night. A great ...
Bolognaise is such a versatile dinner option, as you can cook a large batch of Bolognaise that can be frozen into smaller portions. These smaller portions can then be pulled and used when needed and can help you to create a number of different meals. I freeze my Bolognaise into portions around 500g and defrost prior to creating any of the below meals.
These Kafta’s were the best I have made so far. Lamb Mince works well as it sticks together nicely, making it easier to cook. The spice level was enough to have a good flavour with a little kick (the kids didn’t notice), however if you child is sensitive to chilli, simply skip the Cayenne Pepper or halve the amount. I use a kilo of meat as this creates a number of Kaftas and you can either cook all or freeze some for another day. Using a food processor is the quickest and easiest way to dice...
As we cook for a large family I always made big recipes so that we have some for the next day for lunch. You could easily halve this recipe to get a great pie that is large enough for a family of 5-6. With the recipe below, we ended up with dinner and enough left over for another dinner.

A real favourite in our home is my fully loaded nachos! You can adjust the heat level to suit your family, as most Mexican food is available from mild to hot (and more expensive brands offer extra hot). Also the mince can be substituted for roast chicken as well. It's easy to substitute or leave out things that don't suit your family too...and perfect for a tasty meal :)
