I was delighted to receive this pack from Mater Mothers Hospital to review this week. Included was a pack of 24 Size 4 Toddler Nappies, a 100mL Tube of Nappy Balm, a 500mL Bottle of Baby Wash and a gorgeous plush Mater Puppy that is a big hit with my little ones!
I’ll start by saying I absolutely love everything about the Mater Mothers brand.
The Mater Mothers skincare items are Australian Made, the proceeds support Mater Little Miracles, and the products have been developed by Mater Midwives & Mums.
All of the items have that beautiful natural baby smell (kind of like baby powder smell) to them. I just adore that!
Mater products are available for purchase online through the Mater Mothers website, and also at selected pharmacies, IGA & Woolworths supermarkets, depending on your state: check their website for details. If you do decide to order online, they have a flat rate of $10 shipping Australia wide. This includes cartons of nappies, which makes this shipping rate is an absolute bargain!
Mater Nappy Balm
The Mater Nappy Balm smells beautiful and is suitable for sensitive skin. It creates a barrier to protect the skin from irritation, and doesn’t have that sticky, zinc feel some nappy creams can have. I find the tube it comes in wonderful, as opposed to a tub which I’m used to. It’s easy to control the amount that comes out. I also found that little hands looking for mischief can’t make a huge mess in a split second. The 100g tube is $7.99.
Mater Baby Wash
The Mater Baby Wash is soap free and has a gentle tear-free formula. I can vouch for this claim, as both my boys love to splash each other in the face during their baths, and there were no tears! I found the Mater Baby Wash to bubble up quite well, and you don’t need to add a lot to the water so it should last for a little while too. It also smells gorgeous 🙂 The Mater Baby Wash RRP $13.99
Mater Nappies
The Mater Nappies are great! They’re all unisex and come in 5 sizes, catering from the Newborn First Weeks right up to 15kg. I noticed in the brochure that the newborn first weeks size nappies have a special cut out to accommodate the belly button, which I struggled with constantly when my babies were newborn. I trialled the largest size, a size 4, rated from 10 to 15kg.
I really like everything about these nappies. The first thing I noticed was that the size is printed on the front of the nappy: this is genius! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve brought the wrong size at the store because my two boys are in different sizes: seeing as they’re always with me, this would be so much easier to have a quick double check! Secondly I love the fastening tabs. Stretching the tab to stick down around bub, there is an extra bit of stretch up close to the tab which is fantastic. The tabs are strong and resealable, and smooth so there are 
no itchy bits or rashes! I also love the cuffs around their legs because they’re flexible and don’t seem to gape when my active little boy sits down. I give them a big tick of approval from our household! The prices differ depending on size and can be found on their website, but the 24 pack of Mater Toddler nappies are $13.99, and the carton of 96 are $50.36.
Overall I rate the Mater products a 10 out of 10, because the products have all lived up to the company’s claims and have exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be using Mater from now on and recommending their products to my friends!
