Xalien the Purple Alien – Children’s book review

Xalien-childrens-book-review-

Written by Michelle Path and Illustrated by Charlotte Roberts. This book is about an alien who crash lands on Earth, meeting three children who accept her.  Sarah, Jessica and Adam show her what humans do on earth by taking her to the fair.  They also learn from Xalien about what they do on her planet.

I believe it is meant for the parent/carer to read this to their child.  My son was able to read most of this book to me but he is in year 1 and a more advanced reader.  There are nice big pictures on every page with text around the pictures.  The illustrations complement the storey nicely.  Sometimes it got a bit tricky for my son to work out which text to read next but aside from that, the book was entertaining and humorous.  It is nice to see your child pause to laugh while reading a book.

It is great to be able to discuss the book afterwards so that we can discuss cultural diversity, accepting people that are different from us and how to include them.  This book would also be a good conversation starter for parents wanting to discuss this topic with their children by reading it with them first.

Overall, my son really enjoyed this book. In addition to the Xalien the Purple Alien book, there are four more Xalien books from Michelle Path which cover outings to the beach, Christmas and more, so your child can continue going on Adventures with Xalien, Sarah, Jessica and Adam.

Xalien-childrens-book-review-I appreciate that Michelle Path is an Australian Author and will look out for her books in the future.
