Best Kegel Balls Australia | A Kegel a Day Keeps Incontinence Away
According to the Continence Foundation of Australia, one in three women who had a baby wet themselves. While incontinence is not your everyday topic when chatting with friends, the chances are many of your girlfriends have had issues with bladder (and maybe bowel) control.
After pregnancy and birth, I was one of them!

The good news is that a weak bladder (and bowel) can be easily fixed with kegel (or pelvic floor) exercises. Kegel (named after Dr Arnold Kegel) exercises helped me to strengthen my muscles down there. While these exercises can be done without any tools, I did find that using Kegel balls made exercising easier.
Kegel balls are pretty much the equivalent of gym weights – but designed for your vagina! By inserting and holding weighted balls down there you get the workout done. The stronger your pelvic floor, the more weight you can hold.
My favourite kegel exercise balls are the Tracey Cox Training Set, but there are many other great options to choose from.
Best Kegel Ball Sets Australia
Best Kegel Balls Overall — Tracey Cox Supersexy Training Set
Tracey Cox Supersexy Training Set
The Tracey Cox Supersexy Training Set includes six colour-coded oval balls with varying weights. The colour code is cute and practical. The lightest colour corresponds to the lightest weight. In Tracey Cox training set’s case, you start with a light lavender colour weighing 50g. There are six balls in total and – as your muscles get stronger – you progress to the heavier ones up to the dark purple ball, weighing 130g.
I must confess I was very curious to see what the heaviest one felt like and I put it in as soon as I got this set! There was no way I could hold it up there, so back to the light one I went. The six balls gave me the idea of progression – something that exercises without balls lacked.
These balls are very soft and easy to clean. But most importantly, it helped to stay focused and get my exercises done.

Best for Beginners — Annabelle Knight Exercise Set
Annabelle Knight Exercise Set
The Annabelle Knight kegel exercise set is quite similar to the one above in colour and concept. But there are differences.
There are three weighted balls: 40, 60 and 80 grams each shaped a bit like cherries! As this set starts at a lower weight compared to Cox’s, it is a great option for beginners and for those whose pelvic muscles struggle with 50g as their first weight. A lot of reviewers agree that by the time you get to 80g, your muscles are in pretty good shape.
Best Budget Option — Lovehoney Main Squeeze Double Kegel Balls 60g
Lovehoney Main Squeeze Double Kegel Balls 60g
While I found that a set was beneficial for me as it gave me the idea of progression and something to aim at, I can understand the attraction of a stand alone product.
I found the best non-set option to be a mid-weight kegel ball such as the Lovehoney Main Squeeze Double Kegel Balls. This product is a ‘double’ kegel weighing 60g. It can also be used as you start with unaided holding and squeezing exercises and progress to use the 60g weight which is pretty good.
Being a stand-alone product this is a lot less bulky and is a bit cheaper than others.
Best App-Controlled — We-Vibe Bloom Rechargeable App Controlled Vibrating Kegel Balls
We-Vibe Bloom Rechargeable App Controlled Vibrating Kegel Balls
If technology is your thing and you don’t mind the price tag that comes with it, this is your baby!!! The We-Vibe Bloom is a kegel ball and vibrator all in one! It also has the best of both worlds: a variety of weights – similar to what you find in a set of balls – in a stand-alone product! That’s right, the We-vibe App you use in conjunction with these kegel balls allows you to regulate the weight!
The app also provides ten vibration patterns to choose from. The idea of this product is to give you a double win: sexual and health benefits.
Other great features are the USB rechargeable cable and the waterproof status. The price is a step-up from other products, but if you can afford it, we highly recommend this high-tech kegel!

How did I choose my Kegel balls?
The first step was to acknowledge that I had urinary incontinence!
In my mind, to have incontinence meant to fully wet yourself until you had a big visible wet patch on your clothes. However, a quick search and I realised that a small amount of leakage – completely unnoticeable to others – during coughing, sneezing or laughing was actually incontinence! That was me.
My first reaction was to quickly jump online and order leakage proof underwear. They are great, but they are a short term remedy, not a permanent solution.

It became pretty clear that I needed to get my pelvic floor muscles strong again and kegel exercises were the best way to achieve the long term results I was hoping for.
So, the second step was to get started on exercises. There is a lot of information out there and I also saw a physiotherapist who specialises in continence management to learn more about pelvic floor exercises.
The idea is simple ‘you squeeze and hold your muscles like you were trying hard not to pass wind’. How much you hold and how long for will depend on your body and that’s when I started to get a little confused!
That’s how I came across Kegel exercise balls!
I was initially a little confused. Are they a sex toy or a genuine exercise tool for pelvic muscles? Well, apparently, they can be both and the idea is strong pelvic floor muscles (and a stronger vagina) will help your sexual life too. Sounds like a win-win to me!
Essentially, Kegel balls are little egg-shaped balls that you insert in your vagina and use your muscles to hold them in place. The holding and releasing movement you do is essentially your pelvic workout!
One of the exciting things about kegel exercises is that you can see results pretty quickly and say bye-bye to leakages!
