3rd Story Review | Clothes that combine comfort and glamour

3rd Story is a Melbourne-based and designed fashion label bringing easy-to-wear everyday pieces. As a work-from-home (WFH) mum, I was immediately attracted to their comfortable clothes that are also fun, bright and stylish. 

3rd Story was kind enough to send me three pieces for the purpose of writing this review. My three picks were the Ellie Geometric Pink Dress, the Start in Stripe Tee (in ‘ink’ colour) and the Cargo Joggers (ink colour). 

I could not be happier with my new clothes! All three pieces were great. 

Ellie Geometric Pink Dress

The Ellie Geometric Pink Dress was perfect for the festive season. I wore it to a work-related Christmas party with a pink necklace, nude heels and a belt. I had a lot of compliments. The bright colours scream party and the lightweight cotton poplin is great for Brisbane’s summer. 

A couple of days later, I wore the dress again to catch up with a friend over coffee. In that case, I simply paired the dress with flats and no belt.

Bonus point from me for pockets! Not only this dress has pockets, they are also a decent size (I deeply dislike small, shallow and pretty much useless pockets). 

While a great summer outfit, I can see this dress as a good mid-season attire paired with boots, tights and a jacket. Definitely suitable for Brisbane’s mild winter. 

While true to size (the laying-flat measurements are very handy when ordering online), this dress is quite a relaxed fit and may look oversized.  

Cargo Joggers

My second pick was the Cargo Jogger in ink (they also come in black). This was a hard decision as 3rd Story has quite a few jogger styles to choose from! I went for these as they were a bit more plain looking – and easy to pair with different tops. 

The material is top quality! I have always loved joggers, but they have always been a ‘winter’ outfit for me as they are often made from heavyweight fabrics. 3rd story cargo joggers are the opposite – the cotton is breathable and lightweight – making them suitable for all seasons. 

But there’s more… I found these pants to be great for working from home, and, at the same time, they are well-suited for popping out to the shops, grabbing a coffee or doing the school run. They are also a very relaxed and flattering style. 

Star in Stripe Tee

The Star In Stripe Tee is again a super comfortable slub cotton t-shirt. The style is relaxed and casual – with the metallic + pink stripes giving this tee a bright colour pop! 

Although the 3rd Story website describes this t-shirt as a ‘boyfriend’ style, I found it to be more like an A-line, which accentuates the waist and provides a bit of bottom coverage – great for my wide hips and big booty! The tee is also a little shorter in the front compared to the back. The result is a very flattering style. 

I knew this tee was a winner when my teenage daughter said that I looked good and was “NOT dressed like a boomer”! 

Sizing

As per website information, 3rd Story pieces are ‘true to size’. While the styles I chose were quite relaxed and flattering, they were all suitable for my measurements. 

The ‘laying-flat’ measurements are quite handy when ordering online. 

Price

While not super cheap (they are not a ‘fast fashion’ company), 3rd Story clothes are quite reasonably priced for the quality materials and funky design behind them. 

They also offer a 10% discount for those signing up for their mailing list. 

Style

True to their words, the 3rd Story style is very much ‘easy-to-wear’ and comfortable. As a WFH mum, I was sick of feeling underdressed in my standard tracksuit pants and daggy t-shirts, but was also never in the mood for dressing up to just walk my desk in my study corner. 

Most of 3rd Story’s clothes are the perfect blend of comfort and flair – allowing you to stay comfortable at home and feel stylish enough when popping out. 

Material and Care

There’s no doubt that all clothes I tried were made from quality materials. 

3rd Story are made mostly from cotton – with most of their floral dress range made from viscose. 

Washing instructions for cotton clothes are ‘cold gentle machine wash’ and ‘inside-out cold hand wash’ for viscose pieces.

My items were quickly shipped and received via AusPost. All purchases over $75 attract a free delivery deal within Australia – with full tracking.

Returns/Exchange

As per industry standards, 3rd Story offers a 30-day return (or exchange) policy, provided items are unused and are returned with original tags and packaging. 

Final thoughts 

If you are after clothes that are super comfortable without compromising on style, I highly recommend having a look at 3rd Story.
