Putting a modern spin on an old favourite; Moonlite projects images from your child’s favourite storybook onto your ceiling using the flashlight function on your mobile phone.
To start, I needed to download the free app to access the story. Easily done! Next, I opened the app and was walked through setting up one step at a time. Once we were set up, the ‘target’ for the top side of the clip came up on my iPhone screen to ensure that I had the projector positioned correctly over the flashlight: this was so handy and took all the guesswork out of it! Love it!
The Moonlite projector itself clips lightly onto your phone using a clip similar to a soft-closing peg and has a special soft grippy thing to prevent the Moonlite projector from moving around.
From there, the story reel is inserted into the side and positioned so that the first image is projected first. It’s amazingly simple and effective, and I really love that the projector doesn’t take batteries or anything, making it entirely portable: I can’t wait to take ours on our next camping trip!
With so many stories available, there’s something to suit every family. From Fairytale classics to Mr Men and Little Miss, Spot, and more! The stories are available singularly, or as packs making them a perfect gift idea.
The projectors themselves are all blue, although I’ve seen that Rose Gold has just been released as a limited edition to the USA & UK, so hopefully, we will get it soon. The Moonlite projector fits around 90% of smart devices, however, to be certain, there is a list of supported devices on their website.
All of the Mr Men stories that I received for this storybook review had 12 images per story. Five-story reels were also included in the package.
I really liked that the Moonlite Projector is such an uncomplicated device that was popular with my young ones (aged 1, 4 & 6).
When the app is opened and the first image is projected on the ceiling, the words to the first page of the story are on the screen of the phone for you to read. When the reel is turned to display the second picture, the second page of words is displayed on the screen. I love the soft, relaxing music in the background, and it’s such a great feature having 3 different songs to choose from in the settings. For the books we received, we could choose to read them in English or French.
The kids loved lying in one room as we read together in the dark. It’s a really good way to reduce stimulation and relax the kids before bed!
