What is Prime Day?
Prime Day is a day (actually 2 days!) of deals across Amazon, exclusively available to Prime members. And some of the deals are pretty remarkable – particularly considering that you can trial Prime for 30 days for free!
Amazon is still relatively new as a local presence in Australia, officially starting the Aussie store near the end of 2017, and some were disappointed in the early months. However, they have gradually been building the catalogue of locally-stocked items and the list of merchants, large and small, that are selling through the Australian Amazon stores grows daily.
Overseas, in countries with higher population density than Australia, the Amazon Prime service has been a game-changer in terms of breaking down the barriers for those skeptical of online-shopping. While the logistics in Australia mean that delivery times may never be as fast as urban areas of the USA, the current Prime offering is still amazing:
-
- FREE two-day domestic delivery on Prime eligible items
- FREE International Standard Shipping on eligible International orders over $49
- access to Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service, including exclusive access to Amazon Originals
- FREE games and loot within games with Prime Gaming
- Ad-Free access to 2 million songs via Amazon Music
- Prime Reading – free access to over 1,000 eBooks, comics, short stories, and more
When is Prime Day?
This year, Prime Day is 13-14 October 2020. Last year, the event happened in July, however, COVID-19 came along and had something to say about the timing this year!
