Baby Ink- Inkless baby prints

With a brand new baby in the house I was keen to capture every single moment of her gorgeous tininess including her wee footprints. But I was not at all keen to get paint or dark ink on her — I skipped the whole prints palaver altogether with her big brother as it just seemed more trouble than it was worth.

This time around, armed with the Baby Ink pack I tentatively wiped the soles of my new baby’s feet with the slightly moist towelette (reminiscent in packaging and size to the KFC refresher towelette I remembered from my youthful KFC-eating days) and waited to see what would happen.

The wipes are certainly no-fuss and easy to use. I simply wiped each foot – no colour is evident — then pressed them firmly onto the special paper provided (the pack comes with four A5 sized sheets) and waited for 10 minutes. I took about three goes to master the art of holding her foot still enough to capture all her toes and foot lines clearly, then voila! Perfect blue prints. The pack is also available to print in black and pink and the quality of the paper is designed to be ideal for framing as a keepsake or including in a scrapbook. The prints can also be scanned and printed on mugs or jewellery to give as a personalised gift.

I must confess I did have concerns putting the ink on her fresh new feet and was troubled to find that the ingredients were not listed on the packaging. However the Baby Ink representative I contacted was quite helpful and sent me a list of the chemicals used with additional documents confirming that Baby Ink is non-toxic. While somewhat appeased, I would be much more keen on Baby Ink if it were an all-natural product, however that may be asking too much of invisible ink.
