Beef San Choy Bow

A simple, quick recipe to create a delicious low cost family meal of beef san choy bow. The kids love eating out of the lettuce leaves and the mince can be tailored to your families taste preferences

Ingredients
1kg beef mince
1 onion
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tbsp. Oyster Sauce
1 tsp Soy Sauce
1-2 Shallots, chopped
Can water chestnuts
100g vermicelli noodles
Handful of peanuts, crushed
Iceberg lettuce, carefully extracted to get ‘bowl like’ shaped leaves to which you can add your San Choy Bow mince.

Method:

  1. Place Vermicelli noodles into bowl, add cold water and leave to soak for 15 minutes. Cut into smaller sizes and then add to mince once browned
  2. Add onion with some olive oil to hot frying pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until soft.
  3. Add mince to pan and brown. Once browned, add sauces.
  4. Add shallots, water chestnuts and peanuts to pan mixing together and cooking for a further 1-2 minutes.
  5. Serve mince into lettuce bowls and enjoy.
