Chibebe Snuggle Pod and Rocker

With three kids 5 and under and only 2 arms life can become extremely hectic, especially late afternoons, when your trying to get out of the house, when you’re coming into the house, actually it’s hectic all the time.

Introduce the Chibebe snuggle pod and suddenly you have one less hand required!

I have been trialling the snuggle pod primarily for my 3-month-old and I have to say it has been a great help on more than one occasion.

chibebe-snuggle-pod-reviewArriving on my doorstep the snuggle pod came flat packed and required me to fill it with polystyrene beans which I picked up from target for about $10. The instructions regarding how much to fill the snuggle pod are pretty loose so I filled mine as much as I would fill a bean bag. The tip in the manual regarding filling did say to fill it over a bath which is genius as those tiny beans go everywhere! I would also suggest having someone help you that isn’t your 3 year old!

Once I had filled the snuggle pod and zipped the covers together (which was super easy) I put my smiley little bundle in the pod to see what he thought. Success… smiles all round from him!

It became clear pretty quickly that the snuggle pod was like a bouncer but with additional benefits. Having a baby that does enjoy his sleep means he has a bit of a flat spot on his head, the snuggle pod moulded to his head meaning it would really help with the issue.

Once my little guy was strapped in I was able to have him sit right next to me while I played Lego for the 1000th time with his brothers as well as sit him on the bench in the kitchen while I cooked dinner for his brothers that for the 7th night in a row they would not eat.

I found the snuggle pod to be different to traditional bouncers in the sense that it allows them to sit more upright by moulding to their little bodies while still providing them a lot of support. This was particularly good for my baby as he was starting to want to be more upright for longer.

Having two other children, one who was a colicky baby that slept most of his day sleeps in the bouncer for the first 6 months of his life. I can see how the snuggle pod would be great for babies that are more comfortable sleeping upright as it allows them comfort and a more upright position. Also, as you are in charge of the amount of beans in the snuggle pod you can adjust the position for the needs of your baby.

Speaking of sleeping I was also given the Chibebe snuggle pod rocker to test out. The rocker also came flat packed in a small box and was super easy to assemble, taking no more than 5 minutes. The snuggle pod just sits in the rocker making it easy to take it in and out.

As soon as my baby was ready for sleep I popped him in the snuggle pod and started to rock him. Whilst every baby is different it was a matter of minutes before his little eyes were rolling around and were shut tight. If you are looking for something your baby can nap in I would definately recommend getting the rocker for your snuggle pod as I saw it really help my little one go off to sleep and stay asleep!

chibebe-snuggle-pod-reviewThe snuggle pod isn’t just for babies, my package also came with an attachment that made it into a seat for toddlers and older kids. My 3 year old was super excited to try it out. Of course I needed to remove some beans to account for his size and weight. Cue the wiggles and a snack and my 3 year old loved sitting in it to watch his favourite show. It might sound a little like a toddler bean bag now but it’s much better. The shape of the pod means that your child doesn’t sink into it like a normal bean bag so it gives them the comfort of the beans but the shape of a seat! He sat and watched a whole episode so I’m calling it a success!

From a specification perspective, the snuggle pod is very light making it easily portable. The same can be said for the rocker as it quickly and easily disassembles into 4 small parts. The beans are in a separate bag to the cover meaning it is easy to throw in the wash whenever you need and only takes a couple of minutes to put back together.
Purchasing the snuggle pod is done online through Chibebe.com.au and is easy and lots of fun (I tried it out!), the website allows you to fully customise your snuggle pod from the colour of the top fabric, the pattern on the main part of the pod and even the colour of the rocker so that it matches with your fabrics.

The snuggle pod is $99 and comes with a baby seat (with harness) that you can use from birth, a toddler seat (no harness) and the inner filling bag. The pod rocker is $39 and I think a definite accessory purchase.
