Delicake
Delicake the no-bake dessert tool helping amateur bakers create professional looking desserts.
My kitchen cupboards are an eclectic mix of ‘things’. I have some useful things, some reliable things, some really old things, some new things but one of the problems with all of my ‘things’ is that I can never justify buying items for a specific job. So I often just make do. I have 1 cake tin that I use for EVERYTHING. Have even made bread in it once. It’s one of those spring tins that you open and the bottom drops out – you know the one. Versatile, but definitely not pretty and only sometimes practical.
When I first saw the Delicake I was in awe. I’ve never actually seen anything quite like it before for the home kitchen. Which is why I put my hand up to give it a try.
The first important thing you need to know about Delicake is that it is NOT for putting into the oven or microwave. It is for non-bake setting desserts. Think no bake cheesecake, custard fruit tarts, ice-cream cake, mousse cakes, tiramisu… Those types of things. The Delicake Traditional Round Master is designed to prepare, set and serve your no bake dessert straight from the base helping you to achieve perfect presentation every time.
The see through plastic construction is robust and the pieces easily fit together and the quality of this proudly Australian product is fantastic.
Nothing flimsy or ‘not quite right’ about this product. The base fits onto the sides with an ‘indent snug fit’ which provide the perfect edge to your dessert. The top then slide on with ease for transportation around the kitchen, protection, to seal and transport to table. It can be put in the Fridge or the Freezer all while providing a full view access to your dessert. It is important to note that this is not a trifle bowl and you can’t put liquid straight onto the base without a layer of biscuit or sponge base prior to the liquid ingredients being added.
I have something to confess. I am a Thermomix owner. So when I saw the Delicake I knew EXACTLY what I was going to make in it. The Toblerone Cheesecake that a fellow owner was raving about not so long ago and I had never been game enough to make.
I won’t bore you with the details of the construction (but I will add that Thermie did make it a pretty easy process) but layering everything in the Delicake Traditional Round Master container was really easy. It was easy to ensure the biscuit base was even and that it reached down into all the corners properly providing an beautiful even biscuit base. While I made the filling I left the base to chill in the fridge with the lid on. It was really easy to transport from bench to fridge and when I was ready to put the filling in the lid came off easily so there was no tipping of the cheesecake base or pulling at any parts of it.
Once I put the filling on it was back into the fridge with the lid on for it to set for a few hours. Whilst I was waiting (and licking the spatula) I had a look around the Delicake website. This is a treasure trove of information. Recipes, videos and product information galore. I’ve saved a few of the recipes to use later and I really enjoyed watching the videos! What a fantastic resource- I will be keeping my eyes out for any more!
After a few hours my no bake cheesecake was ready to be devoured. To serve the cheesecake I took the lid off, ran a knife around the edge of the Delicake Traditional Round Master form and then lifted the sides off. SUPER easy and it left a PERFECT Cheese Cake!!!! No dents in the side, mixture went right out to the sides, it was a perfect even looking cheese cake and there was no fiddling around with taking bases off… it was perfect and ready to serve!
The only downside is that Delicake cannot be placed in the dishwasher. But in this case that is definitely not a deal breaker for me the convenience of the Delicake Traditional Round Master outweighs the inconvenience of hand washing.
I am really impressed by the Delicake Traditional Round Master. It is really easy to use and a fantastic way to ensure your non-bake desserts are perfectly layered and perfectly presented every time.
I cannot wait to use mine for Master M’s ice cream birthday cake later in the year!
