Dream Start Baby – a baby sleep & routine education resource

Dream Start Baby is a series of instructional videos to guide parents through those sometimes daunting first twelve months. The videos are split into age categories, then further categorised by topics (such as sleep, feeding etc).

According to the creator; “Dream Start Baby has been expertly created to equip you with the knowledge and confidence to establish great sleep and routine behaviours for your baby as soon as they are born, right throughout the first 12 months of their life.  Dream Start Baby is not “sleep training”. What we are doing here is educating parents about all aspects of their baby’s sleep, feed and wake cycles, so you will know how to meet your baby’s every need, day and night. Your baby will be thriving from Day One, in a consistent routine and sleeping beautifully now and in the years ahead.”

Dream-Start-BAby-ReviewHaving had 2 children prior to my current newborn baby, I’ve had a bit of experience, however, I also remembered how quickly my confidence slipped and had my head reeling with uncertainty and confusion as to why my baby was crying, or what to try next. Particularly when I’m lacking sleep, I sometimes find it difficult to think clearly and not spiral into full blown anxiety attacks. So, I jumped at the chance to trial Dream Start Baby!

I received my access to Dream Start Baby only a few days before my baby arrived so I enjoyed having a bit of a head start in navigating the site and videos. The ladies who present the videos are trained professionals, and they deliver their knowledge in a concise and easy to understand manner. I’ve watched the videos of newborn to 12 weeks a few times over to refresh my memory as I’m experiencing their points throughout my motherhood journey. We need to study to pass a course or excel in the career world, so it makes sense to take time to learn about babies and “study”, if you will. It’s all well and good to learn the information; but to remember how to put said information into practice when you have a screaming newborn, is an entirely different thing: this is where the constant access and members page comes in!

One thing I really, really loved was that I was interrupted a few times whilst watching the videos where I had to shut down the page and return a few days later. Upon logging back in, I found that the videos simply picked up where I left off! I was very impressed, as I couldn’t remember where I was up to and with some videos lasting close to half an hour, I didn’t particularly want to start all over again!

Dream-Start-BAby-ReviewIn addition to the videos, there is also a private Facebook community whereby you can chat to other mums about your experiences or ask questions, as well as a selection of printable PDF’s of information provided in the videos should you prefer a printed reminder.

You know how you always her parents say “I wish babies came with a manual”? I think I found the manual! As a very independent woman, I don’t like people standing over me and criticising or telling me what I’m doing wrong with my bubs, so these videos have helped me immensely. The constructive approach of purely knowledge-based information and the ability to rewind and watch the videos over and over makes this concept a seriously helpful one. I’d have liked to have received the Dream Start Baby when I was a first-time mum.  I’m certain all first-time mums could benefit from having unbiased, straightforward knowledge at their fingertips! A great idea for a baby shower gift from a group of friends or family. 🙂
