Just Dance 2020 Review Australia

Just Dance 2020 Review

If you’re anything like us, there’s a consistent battle going on in your house… Screen-time! How much is too much? I’ll guiltily admit – it often feels like we have too many screens and too many options for the kids to entertain themselves without ever leaving the house. So, like many Australian families, we impose limits – how much and when. But, we make one frequent exception – Just Dance often gets a green light when other screen-based activities are off-limits.

“Kids: no screens after dinner… unless it’s just dance”

We were relative late-comers to Just Dance, picking up the 2019 edition last year. It’s safe to say it was a hit! This wasn’t a surprise for our daughter, who was ten at the time, but we were pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm Mr 10 and Mr 6 showed. In fact, it was delightful to see all three kids having a blast and bustin’ a move together! There may have even been a few occasions when the adults got in on the action…

What is Just Dance?

Just Dance 2020 Nintendo Switch box

If you haven’t dipped your toes into the Just Dance waters yet, it is a dance game that is available for all the major consoles. At the core of it, you can select a song that plays with some silhouette figures on-screen dancing a variety of moves. Players are supposed to imitate those moves in time with the music. On the Nintendo Switch, all you have to do is hold one of the joy-cons in a hand while you dance. If you have enough controllers, up to six players can play at a time, which is great for parties or when there are friends over. Just make sure you have lots of room to move!

Just Dance 2020

The 2019 edition of this game was so popular with our family that we leapt at the chance to receive a review copy of the new one. Just Dance 2020 has been just as much a hit with our family!

So far, the kids favourite song has been Kill This Love by BLACKPINK, but there are plenty more, with 40 new songs in total to keep them dancing. Oh, and by the way, maybe you might have heard of this little movie called Frozen 2? 😉 Well, this year’s Just Dance includes the hit song from it – Into The Unknown by Panic! at the Disco. If that’s not enough, you can also pay to subscribe to Just Dance Unlimited, which gives access to over 400 songs!

10 Years of Just Dance

We may have only just got on the Just Dance groove train, but this year’s game is actually the tenth in the series. Looking at how much fun our kids have playing it, and what a welcome change it is from other mind-numbing digital distractions, I’m not surprised it’s going stronger than ever after ten years!

Available on these consoles: Nintendo Switch™, Wii™, PlayStation®4 Pro and PlayStation4 and the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X. Just Dance 2020 will also launch on the Stadia gaming platform.
