KLOP is an outdoor wooden game designed in Finland.

It was originally created by woodsmen near the Finnish-Russian border to both amuse the woodsmen and legend has it; to cause enough ruckus to keep the hungry bears at bay. The challenge of winning and beating your opponents quickly becomes addictive and the game offers a fun outdoor activity that can be enjoyed by families with children of all ages.

The game itself is very easy to learn and set up; a positive when playing with children who do not want to wait long and cannot understand complicated rules. Essentially you have 12 pegs, a chuck and a score board. You set up all the pegs, throw the chuck at the pegs and then score each player based on the number of pegs he/she knocks over.

I enjoyed playing the game with my children and liked the fact that it offers a simplistic game that can be modified to be enjoyable for children of any age.

The game offers educational benefits as well for young children as they can learn to recognise numbers and older children can improve their maths skills as they add up the scores.

KLOP comes in a stylish wooden box with a handle that fits everything needed for the game into; is good looking, easy to carry and store.

It can be played anywhere, the only requirement is some flat ground and I would recommend extra open space around the pegs, so that cars, people or other precious items are not hit.
