Natural Raw C Coconut Water by Pete Evans

If you are like me, you have heard a lot about coconut water. It seems to be popping up everywhere and the word on the street is that it is good for you. Who wouldn’t want to give it a go!

Coconut water is fat free, sugar free and gluten free. It also contains natural electrolytes and is high in potassium.

I was surprised by the taste… it is a little like a light syrup, but not in a bad way. It has the flavour of coconut and is very drinkable on its own. However, I really think it comes into its own when you cook with it! You get all the health benefits and a tasty meal all in one!

Coconut water is very versatile… you can even wash your face with it! It acts as a clarifier and can reduce acne and control oily skin. Given that it is full of potassium and electrolytes, coconut water is the perfect ‘day after the night before’ drink. When you had one too many wines, coconut water can rehydrate the body and reduce the impact of a hangover.

Coconut water is also a handy little helper if you are trying to loose weight. Keeping hydrated is one of the keys to successful weight loss as dehydration slows down the metabolism. Being low in calories and fat free, the natural electrolytes in coconut water can help sustain the ‘full feeling’ and keep your body hydrated – an absolute must for weight loss.

But back to my favourite topic… cooking! As part of my experimenting with Coconut Water, we made smoothies and an awesome marinade for chicken and more.

Coconut Water can be used instead of water in pretty much any recipe to boost the flavour and nutritional profile of our daily foods. For example, it can be used in pizza dough, bread, muffins, smoothies, oatmeal (porridge), soups, poaching chicken, steaming vegetables and de-glazing pans. Anywhere that you would use water or stock, you can try Coconut Water instead.

I knew Coconut Water was good for me… but I had no clue the range of things I could use it for! As a natural and healthy product, I will definitely be incorporating more of this into my cooking. You may even see a few more recipes appear on MumsDelivery!
