Freya’s Nourishment

Freyas-Nourishment-Review

In today’s fast paced environment, with so many time poor mums; taking advantage of everyday products designed to offer a pampering, nourishing experience can help you look and feel better. Freya’s Nourishment is a company devoted to creating natural products that nourish both your body and soul. Offering a range of beauty products from Bath Salts, to Skincare and Soy Candles, we tested a few of their products in the lead up to Mother’s Day.

Overall, there are a number of things to like about Freya’s Nourishment. Firstly I like the fact that all the products are hand-made, so you know that you are supporting a small Aussie business. Secondly and importantly, all of their products are preservative free and cruelty free.

Rose Hand scrub

freya-hand-scrubThe Rose Hand Scrub has a nice and natural smell to it. As you rub the scrub in between and over your hands, you can feel the salts exfoliating your skin. The hand scrub is great for feet and a wonderful idea post-summer or throughout winter to avoid dry hands. The exfoliant action works well and you can feel the oils included. I like that while you can feel the oils, after rinsing and drying my hands, the oil had sunk in and my hands didn’t have an oily residue. Instead they felt very soft and the exfoliation will help remove dead skin so that my hands or feet will better absorb my moisturiser.

RRP: $27.00 for 120g

Coffee Coconut Scrub

Coffee-coconut-scrubThe Coffee Coconut Scrub is designed to stimulate blood circulation while acting as an exfoliant, clearing away dead skin. It acts a great exfoliant, easy to use and effective. The Coffee Coconut Scrub has an appealing smell and I like the addition of Coconut to the coffee scrub to provide extra moisturising properties as well as leaving your skin with a pleasant smell.

According to Freya’s Nourishment, the caffeine within the scrub helps to plump the cells, reducing the appearance of cellulite. While I do have cellulite, I am not keen to take before and after photos to determine how well it works, however caffeine has great properties and thus I believe that it could help reduce the appearance of my cellulite over prolonged use. In addition to this, there is Cinnamon verum contained within the scrub. Cinnamon is a natural antiseptic, so this helps the scrub reduce bacteria on your skin which can in turn reduce blemishes.

I like the bag that the Coffee Coconut Scrub comes in. It stands up well, is resealable and waterproof, so you can keep it in the shower or close to the bath for use whenever you have a spare 5 minutes. When using the scrub, it comes out of the bag quite dry which makes it easier to put on and rub around. As you rub the scrub in, you can feel both the exfoliating properties as well as the oil. Immediately after washing the scrub off you notice a redness all around your body which shows that the scrub has increased the blood flow to these areas.

RRP: $20 for 150g

Bath Salts

Freya Bath-Salts-reviewThere is nothing I like more than enjoying a nice relaxing bath. The bath can be even better with the aid of Bath Salts designed to encourage relaxing, promote healing and more. Freya’s Nourishment has three different types of Bath Salts available, each designed with different oils and flower to offer a range of benefits.

All bath salts from Freya’s Nourishment include Epsom Salts which has therapeutic properties to help relieve sore muscles and reduce the build-up of toxins within our body. In addition to this they include Australia Sea Salt which offers a natural treatment for psoriasis. There are three types of bath salts available:

Jasmine –  Jasmine oil helps to heal dry skin and fade scars (perfect for the post baby belly). Jasmine is great for sufferers of eczema and dermatitis

Lavender & Frankincense – The Lavender helps you calm down you while the Frankincense oil has skin renewing and antiseptic properties.

Rose & Pomegranate – My favourite and I think the best combination for busy mums. The rose promotes circulation, and helps to reduce blood pressure. The Pomegranate is full of antioxidants to prevent free radical damage, slow the aging process and promote cell regeneration.

The smell of each bath salt flavour is lovely. There is a light subtle smell that combined with the flowers/petals promotes a relaxing feel and ultimately an enjoyable experience. The oils are not overpowering, yet their properties are felt and do make your skin feel softer and smoother. Ultimately the use of the bath salts with the oils overtime would lead to healthier looking skin.

My daughter was so excited at having Rose Petals included in her bath, it made it an exciting and fun experience for her. Initially I found the flowers included to be a concern with how to get them out of the bath, however I found it easy to remove them by using a strainer plug from our kitchen. I also found a small muslin bag that I could fill with the bath salts mixture, tie up and pop into the bath. This offered a quick, easy way to get the experience without the petals everywhere.

Overall the bath salts from Freya’s Nourishment are a great way to enjoy a relaxing bath with additional relaxation and skin care benefits. Each packet includes enough salts for numerous baths and the flowers and oils within each bath salt option work well. The zip lock bags the salts are included within work well to reseal the salts, keeping them fresh.

RRP $17 for a 350g Stand Up Pouch
