SPLASHitToMe Raincoats
Living in the tropics there are some months where you never know if you are going to get driving drenching rain or if it is going to be sunny. The days that start off with clear blue skies can soon become ‘wet’ days and it really isn’t fun being caught out in the middle of a downpour.
I was on the hunt for an effective wet weather plan for Master M’s school bag. I had debated with the idea of having a small collapsible umbrella in his bag – but I’m not silly. I know that in the eyes of a 5 yr old these become swords and Ninja Weapons far too easily. So I quickly ruled this option out (although there are some VERY cute options on the market). I then decided that I needed a raincoat to put in his bag – but I was pretty specific. I wanted a lightweight, reusable, sturdy, yet compact, with a hood to cover his head and proper fitting raincoat. Not a garbage bag over his head, nor a flimsy disposable thing that would probably disintegrate in the bottom of his bag before he even got to use it. A proper raincoat. *sigh* Then I decided that I was being way too particular and put my search to the back of my mind.
Then along came a SPLASHitToMe Raincoat!
Another brilliant product by Envirotrend the SPLASHitToMe Raincoat folds up (easily – believe me – even I could do it!) to a very compact size.
It folds into a zippered pocket actually on the coat so there are no separate covers or holders to get lost. The Splash it to me Raincoat can be fully buttoned up for maximum protection, has a full hood which can be adjusted with the chin toggles and two large side pockets. One on the pockets has a zip closure which is also what is used to bundle the coat up again once it is dry ready for storage. The cuffs on each sleeve are elasticised in order to keep drips and drops out of the sleeves. They come in a range of bright colours as well as the standard black. They are made from high quality nylon and have heat sealed seams to keep you 100% dry.
The first thing I loved about the SPLASHitToMe Raincoat was how small it was. We were given an Adult size M to review and although it is quite a large coat – it fit me easily – it was only as long as my hand and probably as thick as my wallet – not big at all! The material felt like good quality and the coat looked good even still all packaged up. I was a little nervous about opening it out. I’m not very good with ‘stuffing’ things back into their hiding places (you should see my Tupperware cupboard). Once it is out of its hiding space though the coat is generously sized and it is then that you realise that the coats are made of good quality materials, have fully functioning, good looking and quality buttons, zips and toggles. Whilst the design itself may not be the latest look from the catwalks this is a terribly practical raincoat and absolutely perfect for putting into a school bag, workout bag, nappy bag or leaving in the car ‘just in case’.
The absolute best thing? Even I could get the coat back into the pocket again!! Yep even the ‘stuffing challenged’ like me – with a little help of the internet and looking at the guide on Envirotrend – I got the coat back into the pocket AND the zip closed WITHOUT having to ask anyone else to help! Success!
We have plans of buying a few SPLASHitToMe Raincoats before the next wet season up here. We want to buy coats for each of the boys for their school bags, a coat for me and one for each of us to put into our camping kit. Because you just never know when you will need it and hubby and I think they are much safer than umbrellas.
Perfect for those days when you are caught out and you don’t want the wet weather to get in.
