Tambo Teddies – Bickie Bear

The Bickie Bear is just gorgeous. What struck me when I first laid eyes on the lovely Tambo Teddy is the fantastic quality. Made from incredibly soft 100% woollen sheepskin, it’s perfect for little fingers to explore. The Bickie Bear is described as “Ideal for newborn babies, the Tambo Teddy Bickie Bear (30cm) comes in a variety of colours. Bickie Bears are soft, light weight and flat in formation”.

His eyes and nose are deep and securely sewn: so deep in the wool that laying your hand over his face, you cannot feel them! This makes it perfect for newborns as they won’t be able to chew them nor will they be bothered by them when lying on it.
My one-year-old adores Bickie Bear. Particularly when he’s drinking his morning or night milk bottle, as he lays on the floor and rubs his hand back and forth over the soft wool and sinks his fingers tips into it. The completion of each bottle sees him planting a milky kiss on his bear before running off. The cleaning instructions recommend sponging lightly in warm water with approved wool detergent. I’ve found that the milk kind of beads on the surface rather than being absorbed which makes it easy to sponge off and very quick to dry.

Bickie Bear’s flat formation is such a fantastic concept, and combined with its excellent quality it makes it suitable for a child to grow with from newborn as a comforter right up to an adult as a timeless keepsake.

I did find that there was a bit of surface wool so I’d recommend just going over the bear before giving it to a baby to gently pull out any loose wool. After going over the bear once, no more has come loose, and I’m confident that it was just the surface wool from manufacturing. Apart from that, which is very easily solved, I really can’t find any fault with beautiful Bickie Bear.

I can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful teddy. Being made in Australia is a huge drawcard for me, as supporting Australian families and companies is something I strive to do wherever I can. Tambo Teddies have a beautiful story to tell of their history, and there are plenty of gorgeous colours and products to choose from. The Outback Bears range boasts the title of “Fit for Royalty – Queensland gift to Prince George in 2014”, indicating just how high quality these bears are.

I have already recommended Tambo Teddies to family since receiving Bickie Bear as a gift for a newborn baby in the family, and I’ll absolutely be recommending and purchasing from Tambo Teddies in the future.
