The Beach Bum’s Guide to Australia

If you’re a bit of a beach bum who loves nothing more than topping up your tan sandy shores before taking a dip in the sea or maybe indulging in a few watersports lie surfing, then Australia has to be the ultimate holiday destination for you.

Home to no less than 30,000 miles of unadulterated coastline and more than 10,685 beaches, sand and surf is easier to come by than it is to avoid in Australia. That’s amazing, of course, but it can make it difficult for you to work out which beaches are the best once to inhabit when you’re on holiday. Lucky for you. I’ve got you covered…

Check out this quick guide to the best beaches in Australia and enjoy the sun, sand and surf ‘til your heart’s content:

Whitehaven Beach, Queensland

I think most people would agree that this is the most beautiful beach in the whole of Australia. Consisting of no less than four miles of pristine beach, this Whitsunday Island destination is home to the world’s purest sand, which is made up of 98 percent pure silica, and which feels almost like baby powder under the feet. It is only bested by the purse azure waters which lap at its edges. If you do visit, be sure to head up to Tongue Point where you will be treated to spectacular views of the sea and sand and the various shades of white blue and green that they consist of.

Surfers Paradise Beach, Gold Coast

Surfers Paradise Beach on the gold coast is perfect for anyone who is looking for almost two miles of golden sand, with a backdrop of impressive skyscrapers, unadulterated blue seas and luxury hotels like the Marriott Vacation Club at Surfers Paradise, where fine food and cocktails are the order of the day. Basically, it’s for everyone!

Turquoise Bay, Western Australia

Turquoise Bay is certainly aptly named because its waters, which are on the Coral Coast of Western Australia, are so pure, blue and beautiful that you cannot fail to be drawn into them. What makes this beach so special, though, is the fact that it is just a few metres away from the Ningaloo Reef, where you will find more than 500 species of pretty tropical fish should you take the opportunity to do a spot of snorkelling, Not only that but it’s gentle waves are perfect for newbie surfers looking to get to grips with the sport, too.

Noosa Main Beach, Queensland

There are a lot of beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland but Noosa Main Beach stands out because it is picture-postcard perfect in every way from the brilliant gold of the sand and turquoise of the sea to the lightly swaying palms that are dotted around the place. Located right next to the popular Hastings Street shopping and restaurant precinct, you can literally spend all day there tanning, swimming, eating and updating your wardrobe. There are few people who would be disappointed with that!
