Family Activities in Kiama

Located 2 hours from Sydney, Kiama is where the mountains meet the sea. Here you will see beautiful coastal scenery, dramatic rock formations and stunning beaches. For those with young children, the plethora of Cows and Horses provides constant amusement.
Keeping the Children occupied without costing a fortune (or anything)
  • Visit the Kiama Blowhole and lighthouse
  • Take a scenic heritage walk from Blowhole Point
  • Visit the Little Blowhole (in Kiama) – not as big or as well known, this smaller Blowhole has fewer crowds and can produce a bigger result. Tip: when visiting either blowhole the best time of the day is high tide and the best results come with a big swell.
  • See if there are any local markets happening within the area throughout your stay. Kiama and surrounding areas have markets running all the time including the weekly markets in Kiama on Wednesday evenings.
  • Walk around Kiama Harbour
  • Stroll Kiama Town Centre for charming shops, boutiques and eateries
  • Swim in the rock pools
  • The beaches within the area provide great entertainment for the children. Bring your buckets, spades and cossies for a day fill of fun on the sand and within the water. They are also some excellent surf beaches for those with older children.
  • If your hubby or children are keen fishers then the area does not disappoint and there are a number of spots where you can fish, including some beach fishing which is safe and fun for the kids.
  • We may be a bit crazy, but on a wet day we took the kids around and found some cows near the fence and said hello.

  • Whale and dolphin watching
