Uniden Handheld camouflaged UHF Walkie talkies

I remember my brother’s love for his Walkie talkies as a young boy. He and his friends used them to “radio in” the positions of the baddies or to tell each other to hide when the girls were coming.

I remember waiting until his friends would go home and he would have to play with me and share the Walkie talkies….how excited I would get. Years later and I see the same spark of excitement when my son uses the Walkie talkies. I too get the same feeling as I wait until his friends aren’t allowed and I am allowed to play the game with him and share his Walkie talkies.

The Uniden Walkie Talkies are a great Christmas present idea for boys aged 10 onwards. What I really like about the Walkie talkies is that they offer a present that encourages outdoor and imaginative play. They encourage your son or daughter to push the boundaries and see how far the range will go. They encourage friends and siblings to play together in ways that they couldn’t before and they reduce the noise level as they do not need to shout at each other. Most of all I love the fact that it encourages them to get outside!

Another benefit of the Uniden Walkie Talkies for families of all ages is that when camping I can give one to the kids and keep one myself so that I can always stay in contact with them.

It presents an ideal comfort for me as my daughter now wants to start doing things on her own. With the accompaniment of the walkie talkies I still feel as though I can reach her or vice versa should the need arise.

The range on Uniden Walkie Talkies is up to three kilometres “line of sight” and can be extended; however for the children the range is more than adequate.

It is important to note that to operate the walkie talkies you need to pick a channel to communicate through. There are up to 80 channels to pick, however as they are open channels you need to be aware of who else is talking on the channels as there may be some inappropriate language/conversations occurring. Please note the information on channels below so that you can avoid emergency and trucker channels. I would also recommend teaching your children how to change the channels and would advise adult supervision for younger children as unsavoury people can pop onto their channel.

The unit have an operating time of up to 20 hours and each walkie talkie required 3 x AAA batteries. Each unit is the size of my palm and they are easy to operate. The sound is clear and the Uniden Walkie Talkies appear hardwearing and suitable for all situations – play or serious like camping or hiking.

Here is what Mel thinks of the Uniden Walkie Talkies:

“Thanks so much for a fantastic prize MumsDelivery! We recently received our Uniden Walkie Talkies and they’re a great hit with my kids (and hubby)! Fun colours and in a 4 pack means no need for the kiddies to share or take it in turns. They adore playing with them, they’re easy to use and have kept them occupied for hours, both in and out of the house. The packaging boasts long range of up to 3km which is very cool! My husband can even use them when he’s in one of our paddocks (we’re on a couple of acres) and I can communicate with him back in the house. Thanks again for a great prize – it’s very appreciated! “
