V-Tech Birdie Travel Mobile

With the first birthday of my son coming up we were in looking for a soothing mobile that could also entertain him a for a while when he wakes up in the morning.

I have been really happy with the V-Tech Birdie Travel Mobile to date.

It packs a punch for its size in that it has many melodies and features. It holds more than fifty songs, melodies and sounds. There are three songs that can be used for a sing a long and the rest are melodies. The melodies are soothing, for example they will often feature birds chirping or owls hooting in the background. It adds a relaxing layer of sounds to the already calming melodies. The volume settings are good. The lower setting is at a nice volume to keep the babies from being too distracted by the melodies.

Due to the small nature of the mobile the small diameter of the birds has also proved not to be a distraction. The setting can be that the three birds twirl around or remain stationary. If the baby or toddlers does get too distracted by the birds, the arm is retractable. Alternatively, it is very easy to assemble and disassemble.

There are three different timer settings depending how long it takes your baby or toddler to fall asleep ten, twenty or thirty minutes.

I like how easy it is to transport. The arm comes off easily and it comes with a claw fastener to attach to other items such as a pram. I wish that I had this mobile when the kids were newborns as I think it would have been perfect for baby carrier and prams. Not trusting that my 12-month-old wouldn’t pull it down from the pram frame I gave it to him to carry in the pram and he loved pressing the big yellow button to go through the songs.

The travel mobile also has a light feature which fades in and out if your baby or toddler sleeps with a night light.

An added bonus of the travel mobile is that due to the number of songs and melodies my three-year-old has been asking to go into his brother’s cot and he will sit in there for half an hour and go through the music.

The melodies are largely well-known nursery rhymes. Not only is it very sweet to hear my son sing along to the melodies but it has also acted as a babysitter.

Has it helped my son stay in bed longer in the mornings? He has been waking up later than normal and I have found him standing near the mobile. I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or he is playing with the mobile but either way I’ll take it!
