Fun Baby Shower Ideas For New Parents

Fun Baby Shower Ideas For New Parents

A baby shower is a very special time in the life of a pregnant mum-to-he’s life. As well as showering the new parents with gifts, baby showers can be a fun time for new parents to share with their family and friends and have some fun.

Baby showers are traditionally times for women to come together and celebrate pregnancy and motherhood. These days, dads can also be involved in baby showers, and guests can be involved in all sorts of fun games.

Planning a Baby Shower should be lots of fun for all, and attending should be even more fun!

Here are some fun games and activities for your baby shower:

Guessing The Baby Details

During the baby shower, guests can guess all the details of the baby, such as birth date, weight, name, hair colour and eye colour. The host can collect them all up for the new parents. For some added fun, some family and friends like to place bets about the baby’s details!

Words of Advice and Encouragement

A really nice thing to do for the new parents is to allow guests to write their words of encouragement and advice to the new parents. Some nice ways to do this include inside a baby shower guest book, or even with words of wisdom and encouragement written on nappies for the new parents to use in the early days of bringing the baby home.

Baby Name Suggestions

Have each guest write some name ideas and hand them to the host. Guests may write names that they love, and they may also add some funny ideas for a laugh as well.

Baby Guest Books

Having a baby shower guest book is a lovely idea. You can have the guests write a message to the new parents, or write messages to the baby for when they grow up. Some other lovely ideas include creating a thumb print art work for baby, with each guest printing their thumb to form a tree.

Baby Shower Games

Baby showers always have lots of games, usually centred around the new mum! Here are some of our favourites:

My Waters Broke

Have guests form teams of 2 – 3. Give each team a water balloon filled heavily with water – so full that it might break at any moment. Each team has to run a short relay race (up and back across a backyard is perfect!) with the water balloon between their legs. When a guest drops their balloon and breaks it they need to say “my waters broke!”. The last team with their balloon intact wins.

Baby Charades

Just like regular charades, but baby related! You could have guests take turns to act out baby related tasks, or have mum-to-be do them all. Some fun things to act out could include: feeding baby, swaddling baby, bathing baby, or putting baby in their car seat.

Swaddling Race

Give each guest a doll and a Muslim wrap. Have them try swaddling the doll and see who can do the best job with their swaddling. You could also give out prizes!

Guess The Baby Food

Buy a few different flavours of baby foods and remove the labels. Guests then taste the baby foods and guess the flavours.

Guess the baby photos

Ask guests to provide the host with some baby pictures of themselves. The host can then put them together and have other guests guess which baby picture is which!

Celebrity baby name game

Make a list of the most obscure baby names that you can find from celebrities – think of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple as inspiration. Give the guests your long list of crazy names, and guests have to guess who the parents are. You might like to have a prize for the winners.

Who knows mummy the best

Prior to the event, ask the mum-to-be to be a variety of obscure questions that not many people know about her. You could ask her about things like; her first kiss, her first crush, her favourite cocktail, and her dream holiday destination. Write down her answers, and have the guests guess what her answers were. It can be very funny to see who knows the mum-to-be the best by answering all the questions correctly.

Opening Of The Baby Shower Gifts

Mum Opening Baby Shower Gifts

The highlight of a baby shower is always the opening of the gifts. Guests love being able to watch the new parents’ faces as they open the gifts. It’s a lovely idea to do this at the end of the baby shower before the guests go home. Don’t forget to sincerely thank all the guests before they leave.
